Support DoÑa Vicky’s Recovery
A Mother to Nu Delta for Two Decades
“Que Dios te multiplique” – May God multiply your blessings.
For over 20 years, Doña Vicky, DV, has been a pillar of our Nu Delta community—a mother figure, a constant presence, and a source of unconditional love. From preparing meals with care to nurturing generations of undergrads as if they were her own, DV has given selflessly to all of us. Now, she needs our support.
DV’s Story
DV has always been hardworking, resilient, and deeply compassionate, putting others before herself. For years, she endured knee discomfort, pushing through with Tylenol and perseverance. But a recent slip and fall aggravated her condition beyond what she could bear. Imaging revealed years of deterioration, leaving knee replacement surgery as the best path forward.
The surgery was a success, and her doctor was impressed by her recovery leading up to physical therapy. However, the journey is far from over. Winter’s harsh cold has made at-home therapy painful, and while she remains determined, two months of recovery has placed a significant financial strain on her. With no family nearby—her loved ones remain in Peru—DV has leaned on her local community, who have stepped up in extraordinary ways.
How You Can Help
DV's biggest needs right now are:
- Transportation to physical therapy (twice per week, costing $40-$60 per round trip)
- Financial relief from two months of lost income while she heals
- Support as she returns to work in April, with a potentially reduced schedule
While some of her other employers have provided additional financial assistance, Nu Delta undergrads may need to reduce her work schedule from four days per week to one or two. This creates uncertainty in her ability to fully regain her financial footing.
Why DV Matters to Us
For most of us, Nu Delta was a four-year experience—for DV, it has been two decades of devotion. She has cared for us, fed us, and treated us like family since 2004. Through every class that has come and gone, DV has remained, showing us love and grace. Now, we have an opportunity to return just a fraction of that love.
A Community That Cares
Despite her challenges, DV remains deeply grateful for the outpouring of support. Neighbors and friends have run errands, accompanied her to therapy, and simply kept her company. She has reassured her family in Peru that she is not alone—because she isn’t.
If DV has ever made you a meal, lent you a kind word, or treated you like one of her own, this is the time to show her that she is just as much a part of this family as we are.
Donate today and help DV recover with dignity, comfort, and the support she so selflessly gives to others.
