April is woven into Nu Delta’s history—from MIT’s founding in April 1861 to early chapter milestones that shaped our path. It’s a fitting moment to pause, reconnect, and raise a glass to the Brotherhood.

• April 10, 1861: The Massachusetts Institute of Technology received its charter from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, marking the founding of MIT.

• April 16, 1891: The building permit for 460 Beacon Street was filed for lumber merchant George Howe Davenport. The house—designed by architect Francis Richmond Allen, who studied architecture at MIT—would later become Nu Delta’s home.

• April 10, 1922: Nu Delta held its first recorded chapter meeting, presided over by C. P. Clap with brothers W. Ernest Stone ’25 and Frank McCorra present.

• April 28, 1958: The first motion to leave Phi Mu Delta was introduced at a Nu Delta chapter meeting (though it did not pass at the time).

• April 18–19, 1775: Lanterns hung in the steeple of Old North Church launched Paul Revere’s Ride and the opening of the American Revolution.

• Patriots’ Day (April): Massachusetts commemorates the Revolution each spring with civic celebrations and the running of the Boston Marathon.
